Maluti Hospital School
of Nursing was established in 1958 and has graduated over 450
registered nurses, 197 nurse assistants, and 314 registered
midwives. Our graduates now serve in many different capacities
throughout the country, from those who provide direct care in
small villages to those who work in government posts in the
capitol of Maseru.
We welcome students from throughout
Africa and have graduated students from Swaziland, Republic of
South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, as well as
Zaire, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Kenya and Sudan. If you

| Entrance Standards |
| Students
entering a course of professional education and training must
have suitable ability and background for the various
categories of the nursing profession. |

| Diploma General
Nursing Course |
Scholastic Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 years of schooling
- COSC or 0’level (standard 10 is the foreign equivalent)
- Credits: a minimum of 4 credits as follows:
- English language (1 credit)
- Science subject (biology, human & social biology,
physics & chemistry or combined science (2 credits)
- Two other credits in any other subjects (3 and 4
credits)
- Plus a pass in Math/Principles of Accounts (preferably
with a 7)
- Total of six or more subjects passed.

Entrance
Examination and Interview:
- The applicant must come for the entrance examination and
interview at the appointed date and time.
- Foreign applicants are interviewed on arrival
- If married, you must bring proof of marriage
- The pass mark in the entrance examination is 50%

Moral
Character References:
- The applicant must be of good moral character, according
to two character references.
- One of the references must be a local church leader
|
Age and
State of Health:
- The minimum age of the applicant is 17 years
- The applicant must have good health as evaluated by a
physical examination before acceptance with a second
physical examination done by a Maluti Adventist Hospital
Physician before registration as a student.

Willingness to abide by Maluti Adventist
Hospital/School of Nursing Principles:
- The applicant must be willing to abide by the principles
of Maluti Adventist Hospital/School of Nursing.
- The applicant must understand the standards of the
school and realize that if he/she does not comply with these
standards he/she may be asked to leave.

Married
Students:
- The applicant must bring proof of marriage.
- The youngest child must be at least 6 months of age and
not breastfeeding.
- The family matters should not interfere with the
applicants scholastic progress (spouse, children, financial
and other family concerns).
- The applicant is advised not to become pregnant during
the three years of education.

Foreign
Applicants:
- Only Seventh-Day Adventist foreign applicants will be
accepted.
- A proof of membership from an SDA church is required.

Midwifery Course |
